Unfortunately due to the virus my studies in the UK were cut short. I returned to Canada on Wednesday and am currently in isolation in Ottawa.
Overall, I had a wonderful experience in the UK. I met so many great people from all over the world, got the opportunity to travel and take courses not offered at home, and learned a ton of new music from some fantastic musicians. I hope to go back and visit once all this craziness blows over.
I want to thank everyone who helped make this experience possible for me, my family, my friends, the faculty of music at Carleton and the University of Nottingham, and everyone else who kept up with me while abroad.
While there is obviously a lot that I could complain about given my current situation, I think its best to remember that this Virus is really affecting people worldwide. Yes, it sucks that my trip got cut short, but there are people and families that are actually suffering because of what's happening right now. It really puts my frustration into perspective. If there's anything that I have learned from this experience, It's to be thankful for what you have and take any and every opportunity you can.
I had many more adventures planned while in the UK. For now, though, I'll be here finishing up my coursework, songwriting, and working on my instrument chops. All the while dreaming of a beautiful, cold, rainy, windy, miserable winters day in England.
Thanks for checking in!
